Systems and Skills to Site: Diversity Builds Productivity
Event title: Women in Construction Conference 2026
The Women in Construction Conference is a national one-day event organised by Build It International Zambia under the project: “Building a more gender-diverse, skilled, and sustainable construction industry (2024 - 2027),” funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Zambia.
This year’s theme: “Systems and Skills to Site: Diversity Builds Productivity” focuses on generating meaningful dialogue and practical solutions to strengthen systems that support women’s participation and retention in the construction sector.
The conference aims to turn policy commitments and workplace reforms into practical and scalable actions, showing that gender inclusion in construction is possible and vital for growth and productivity.
The conference will be officially opened by the Guest of Honour, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, underscoring Government’s commitment to inclusive growth, skills development, and gender-responsive infrastructure delivery.
Expect an engaging day with keynote speeches, interactive panels, role model spotlights, and a unique “Men Talk” dialogue on male allyship. There will also be live audience participation and networking opportunities throughout the event.
The conference is aimed at:
- Government ministries and regulatory bodies (MoTS, TEVETA, Gender Division, NCC, among others)
- Vocational Training Institutions (VTIs) and training providers
- Construction industry leaders, contractors, and employers
- Development partners, NGOs, and donors
- Women trainees, graduates, and role models in construction
